Students can do more with APA 7th edition on CiteMaker.

Students can do more with APA 7th edition on CiteMaker. Best in class for distance learning.

The world's most accurate free citation generator, CiteMaker (www.citemaker.com), is now live with APA 7th edition (APA 7). CiteMaker offers more source types than competing generators for exporting citations and bibliographies direct into assignments or saving to reference lists.

CiteMaker's latest release follows the publishing of the 7
th edition specifications by the American Psychological Association (APA) late last year. It is also a timely release given distance learning initiatives being introduced to combat the COVID-19 virus.

Students can create citations and bibliographies automatically or manually in APA 7 on CiteMaker; just as they can for 7 other referencing styles on desktop, laptop, and tablet devices. An APA 7 chrome extension is to be released in the coming weeks.

APA 7
th edition sets a new standard in specificity that will be welcomed by students and educators. This is true for social media (posts, profiles, and highlights), lectures (TED conferences), visual media, and government (case law, constitutions. legislation, hearings and testimonies, and treaties) sources.

A reintroduced feature, to be welcomed by assignment markers, is "retrieved date" for citing websites with fluid content. This option is not required on static publications, such as journals which for the first time record an eLocator (article number) as well as the URL (web address) or DOI (digital object identifier).

Additionally, CiteMaker follows the new 7th edition standard of enabling a date for "original work published" to be cited for reprints of books and journals. Along with recording the original works published date in the main citation, the in-text reference for republished materials meets the new standard.

On CiteMaker, students can also create annotated bibliographies and/or record notes to self, using a feature known as CiteNotes.

Over the past year, CiteMaker has made a number of style enhancements including the release of the Modern Language Association's publication of MLA 8
th edition style guide. CiteMaker also released its application of Chicago 17th edition in the middle of last year.

The strength of APA7, Chicago 17, and MLA 8 is that they are consistently codified as opposed to having innumerable variants; making some referencing styles hard for students to master.

APA 7 is on a different path to the Modern Language Association's publication of MLA 8
th edition (MLA 8) which provides greater simplicity for early age learners. Chicago style is more complex with differences in the main and footnote citations.

CiteMaker is widely used in schools, by subscription, as well freely by individual college and university students around the world. Schools and other learning institutions wanting to know more about subscribing to CiteMaker should make their inquiry by emailing "library@" the domain "citemaker.com".
